Dog Food Dilemma

My dog hides under the bed at mealtimes. Does he hate his dog food?

My dog Travis hides under the bed every time I put out his dog food. I have 3 dogs. Each one has a different food. Travis has food allergies, so his food was prescribed by the veterinarian.

I thought it was some strange behavioral issue. Whenever I call the dogs to come and eat, Travis runs and hides! The other two dogs try to eat his food, but Travis has to be convinced to come out of the bedroom!

I was speaking to one of the vet techs about the issue. She asked is maybe the food he was eating was causing him to feel bloated. She suggested that may be why he was hiding at meal time.

For the next week, I gave Travis the food that he gets when he has an upset stomach. It’s a prescription food called “EN.” Wouldn’t you know it, he has stopped hiding under the bed at meal times! Mystery solved!

My next plan is to ask the vet for a different food for dogs with food allergies. I will have to gradually change his food to avoid more stomach upset. At least I feel like we are on the right path! Thank goodness for the vet technician who helped solve this mystery!
